The systematic study is final and astonishingly simple.

Nevertheless, here are some questions and answers to fully understand the rule of forgiveness, which is a fundamental doctrine of Christianity and constitutes a very powerful weapon in spiritual warfare.

Do you know the difference Between Mercy and Forgiveness?

God's mercy expresses the fact that God does not treat us as we deserve. He is patient with us, does not punish us with the severity we deserve.

God is merciful !

Everyone knows John 3.16[1],but God is just and many Christians forget that in the same chapter there is John 3.36[2].

His mercy does not lead him to forgive us but to grant us the time necessary for us to repent and accept the grace of his salvation.

The mercy of the Christian[3], expresses the fact that he does not treat his enemies as they deserve. It is not a question of forgiving them the sins and outrages they may have committed against him, but of loving them. How to love our enemy (Matthew 5:43[4]) :

  • Bless those who curse you,
  • Do good to those who hate you, and
  • Pray for those who abuse and persecute you.

There is no mention of forgiveness. But not to hate his enemy, when he deserves it, that's what the law commands[5], as Jesus Christ invited us to go further in his Sermon on the Mount[6].

We are merciful to our enemies as God has mercy on them. He shines his sun on the just and the unjust[7].

In conclusion, showing mercy is not forgiving.

Didn't God express His mercy to us before He forgave us our sins?!

We deserved eternal death, the expression of his just wrath, but instead God proved his love for us, in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us[8].

Mercy Expresses Love[9] of God, not his forgiveness.

Ephesians 2:5-9. (even when we were dead in sins) has made us alive together with Christ (by grace you are saved), 6 and has raised us up together and made us sit together in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Do you know the difference between forgiving and not taking revenge?

Self-revenge is forbidden by the Law of God.

Do not avenge yourself, is not a commandment of the new covenant, but of the old[10]. Indeed, God forbids any son of Israel to take revenge on another son of Israel. On the other hand, God does not ban revenge, on the contrary, it is the just penalty that he will have executed in reparation for a prejudice[11].

It is God who avenges[12] his people[13].

In the Old Covenant this vengeance of God on behalf of the victim was regulated by several of the 613 commandments of the Law[14].

Homicide is the act of killing a man or a woman.

Manslaughter is the act of accidentally killing someone. In the case of a fatal accident the law of classic compensation[15] applies. The executioner, whom the Bible calls the avenger of blood[16] will kill the culprit if he finds him. But, as it is an accident, the culprit can take refuge in one of the 6 cities of refuge in Israel.

Voluntary homicide is called murder[17].

It is a Second degree murder if there is no premeditation.

It is a First degree murder if it is committed with premeditation or ambush[18].

These last two types of homicide are murders with or without premeditation and they are regulated by the 5th commandment[19]. In these cases, no city of refuge, life for life is the rule because it is written in the ten words, the ten commandments: you shall not commit murder.

Therefore, "not revenge" does not mean "forgive"!

NOTA: A correct translation of Deut.5.17 from Hebrew is YOU SHALL NOT MURDER.

This correct translation was the one chosen in the French-speaking Bibles Louis Segond 1978 (Colombe), Segond21, Semeur, French current, TOB, unlike the Bibles Martin, Osterwald, Louis Segond 1910, Darby, King James, Word of Life, Bible of Jerusalem.

Concerning English-speaking Bibles, some have chosen the correct translation like New American Standard Bible, Holman Christian Standard Bible, unlike KJV King James Version or MKJV Modern KJV...

Do you know the diifference between love and justice?

God is love but God is also just.

If God was only love[20] and that the notion of justice does not interest him, then no need for a saviour, no need for Jesus Christ. Indeed, God loves us, he would have forgiven us, then that's all, besides, there would have been no need for us to repent of our vain way of living, since he loves us so much…

It is this kind of theory that some blessed humanists, active positivists and some Christian institutions have developed.

For them, the important thing is love, forgiveness at all costs!

Let's love each other and that's all, besides their God is a god who loves everyone, who forgives everyone. Their god is a good god, a good sugar daddy who didn't need to send his son to forgive us, since he always forgives without needing to receive just reparation. This god is not just, he is the god of zen, of yin and yang BUT IT IS NOT GOD, the one the Bible speaks of.

God, him, the true God, teaches us in his Word, in the Bible that he always demands reparation.

Let us remember that if we speak of a saviour, it is because he is coming to save us from something. He comes to save us from his just wrath, because the lake of fire, hell is nothing but the expression of his just wrath which he will unleash against all the unjust.[21].

Out of love, God came among us, to live like us, Jesus-Chrsit became incarnate[22] to fullfill the salvation promised since the third chapter of Genesis (Gen 3:15[23]), to fulfill his mission of saviour. Only Jesus Christ could give his life[24], be the sacrifice of sin[25], for all humankind[26] passed, present and future and bear the wrath of God[27].

God is love, and his love impelled him to leave his heaven of Glory, to be born on earth in the chair of a little child in Bethlehem and to walk like a man. He is Emmanuel[28] who walked among his people, who walked in the land of Israel, who slept, who was hungry, who ate, who was thirsty, who drank wine, who wept, who rejoiced, and who suffered. He lived like us, was tempted like us, but unlike every man, he never sinned. He was to be the perfect atoning victim, without sin, the one who was to perfectly fulfill the just reparation demanded by the justice of God.

God is just, and his justice suffers no approximation because God is holy. He is totally different from us[29], and because he is holy, he cannot compromise his justice. Because there is no forgiveness without bloodshed, Jesus Christ had to die on the cross of Calvary to satisfy God's justice. The justice of God is not the justice of men, it is incorruptible, demanding and rigorous.

God is love,

God is just,

these are two different attributes of God!

Do you confuse love with forgiveness?

To understand what forgiveness is, let us analyze the functioning of the presidential forgiveness described in article 17 of the French constitution.

Does a death row inmate receive a presidential forgiveness if he does not ask the president on the one hand, and does the president grant it because he loves the petitioner?

The death penalty was abolished in 1981.

Before this date, a person sentenced to death had to lodge an appeal for clemency with the President of the Republic. The rejection of the petition for clemency, on which it was mentioned that the Head of State "decided to let justice take its course", was in fact equivalent to an execution order.

Is the presidential pardon an act of love?

No, it is a legal act, perfectly regulated[30] by law.

By this act, he acts in the name of French society and abandons the just reparation which would be the gift of the condemned man's life[31] in favor of another reparation, life imprisonment for example. In other words, the Presidential forgiveness is similar to an abolition or reduction of sentence.

If the condemned person does not claim Grace, it will never be granted to him.

Let us note in conclusion that the presidential pardon is a memory of the royal pardon which was one of the prerogatives of the king. He could pardon convicted persons by overturning death sentences, reducing or modifying sentences. This privilege of the king, who judges everything and has the power to grant his Grace, is that which God grants to Christians. Indeed, God has made all his children co-heirs of Jesus Christ kings and therefore judges. Christians are a kingdom of priests (priests), prophets, kings! Isn't Jesus Christ the King of Kings...

Thus, to forgive, to pardon[32], is to annul the just execution of the penalty in accordance with the penal justice of God[33].

To confuse forgiveness and love is like confusing equity, i.e. what is just, with equality, i.e. what is equal. It is upon such confusion that the lie of "gender" or same-sex marriage has been built. Their promoters claim equality, explaining to us that it is just, whereas in these cases, equity and equality are opposites.

Note also that fairness also rhymes with reality but one and the other are not equivalent. The truth is closer to reality, it is often its synonym[34].

Is true that God forgives everyone, unconditionally?

Does God forgive everyone, even those who do not repent, those who do not ask for forgiveness?

God is merciful and does not treat us as we deserve.

In the past, God has already treated humanity as a whole or almost as it deserves. The flood was the result of his judgment, he condemned men to the death penalty and the execution of this penalty was the drowning of all creation on dry land (except the occupants of Noah's ache) .

When God judges humans, very often this judgment is a condemnation…

Thus judgment and condemnation are often synonymous[35].

God always demands reparation and it is out of the question for him to tolerate sin in his presence.

He only forgives those who sincerely ask him for forgiveness and bring forth fruits worthy of repentance[36].

No, God does not forgive everyone unconditionally[37]!

To be Tormentor or Victim?

When we identify ourselves as a victim then things are simple from the point of view of the rule of forgiveness.

We only forgive those who have offended us and who sincerely desire to repair the offense.

The only problem for the victim is the assessment of the offense. Was she really offended? Is the offender aware of the offense committed?

Care must be taken that the victim does not in turn become an executioner, by trying to take revenge or establish his own justice, which is not that of God.

Care must be taken not to be "revengeful"...

Fortunately, the Word of God gives us simple and effective answers to settle conflicts in the Church.

If you are a tormentor, as soon as you are aware of the offense you have caused, run even to the offended and settle your dispute. This regulation is more urgent than anything, than praise, Holy Communion...

If you are the victim of a member of the Church, see it between four eyes...

If you are the victim of a non-Christian, see it between four eyes if you can... if not, love your executioner. How to love your tormentor (Matthew 5:431):

1. Bless him, if he curses you,

2.Do him good if he hates you, and

3.Pray for him, if he mistreats you or persecutes you.

Does forgiveness at any cost set free?

Is the function of forgiveness to set free?

What are we supposed to be free from?... from a burden, from an accusation, from a sin?

More and more Christians have a human-centered teaching. God must do us good... We must feel good, feel better... We must love ourselves... We must accept ourselves... We must seek healing from our hearts... We seek inner healing... We seek deliverance to feel better…

Of course, one must be mindful of the sufferer, and consider the full extent of his suffering, but focusing solely on the sufferer is not a Christian approach to the problem.

This approach is centered on the human. The Apostle Paul would tell us that all of this speaks to us of the flesh and the satisfaction of the desires of the flesh.

Let us remember that the first commandment of God is not to love your neighbor as yourself as many humanists and too many Christians believe. The first commandment is to love God with all your heart (mind), with all your soul, with all your strength and with all your mind[38].

God frees us from the slavery of sin so that we may become a slave of righteousness[39], not, so that our navel will be better... indeed our navel must die!... and that hurts[40]...

Is the symptom not mistaken for the cause?

The “forgiveness that sets free” theory has a very good press in many, many evangelical circles.

But, aren't we confusing the lightness of a heart that unjustly forgives someone who has not asked for forgiveness with that of a faith-filled heart that surrenders its justice into the hands of God?!

The common point between these two Christians is that the first experiences this lightness of heart not because he forgives but because he abandons his justice like the second.

The fundamental difference between these two Christians is that only the latter acts in accordance with God's code of criminal justice[41].

Forgiveness is not intended to free us from anything, it is the result of a divine oath, rendered by God or one of his children[42], in accordance with the penal code of God, in accordance with these divine principles of his justice ;

* If the rule of forgiveness is respected, I forgive, that is to say that by delegation of the king of kings, the king that I am made thanks to the one who wronged me[43], of all or part of the reparations that he owes me.

* If the rule of forgiveness is not respected, I do not forgive, that is to say that by delegation of the king of kings, I retain the sin committed against me. I do not avenge myself, but let the wrath of God act, my father who will execute a just sentence to repair the offense of which I am the victim.

How do I bless my enemy?

God has never commanded us to unfairly "rush", "all out", "unconditionally" forgive our enemies. God always asks us for something, but we must always keep in mind that he only asks us what we can give[44].

How to bless the Islamic sect Boko Raram[45], how to bless the soldiers of the North Korean army, the diverse and varied persecutors driven by all kinds of political-religious ideologies to fight the truth of the gospel of Christ[46].

Shall I say my little prayer, God bless Boko Raram?

Or am I going to get a little more involved to save these rebels who are fighting God and his people?

I will oppose with faith and determination the devil’s plan which is the destruction of my brothers and sisters in Nigeria, as well as their executioners.

Some time ago I realized that the Islamic sect Boko Raram is spread mainly in Nigeria, the country where evangelist Reinhard Bonnke[47] held extraordinary evangelistic meetings bringing together more than a million people.

This is an ALL OUT WAR!

Should I bless the Islamic sect Boko Raram like this?…

“My God bless these men! Let them find the light! Bless their families, bless their works! Make sure they never run out of ammunition, their guns don't jam, their trucks don't run out of gas, they don't run out of water or food, they don't suffer sunshine... Bless their lives... Show them your love…"

Is this kind of earthly blessing that I proclaim over their lives really a heavenly blessing?

What if I pray like this?…

“My God bless these men! Plunge them into darkness so thick that the search for your light is their only way out! Make their weapons jam, make their ammo explode in their ammo boxes or in the rifles! That no cartridge can strike any of their victims! That each of the water points where it drinks are poisoned, that the sun melts the tires and damages all the mechanics. Let cholera, ringworm and rust cling to them. May the curse dwell in their home and prosper[48]. Let your avenging sword and wrath pursue them! May they turn to the Christians he persecuted so that they pray for them, intercede for them. That this sect be completely wiped off the map, not by missiles, but because all its members have become Christians, because you have saved them all. Thank you for this powerful earthly curse that you are transforming into a powerful heavenly blessing!

Of course, the important thing is to pray abundantly in the Spirit[49], that is, in truth. Thus the Holy Spirit will lead us to pray justly for each case.

Praying for someone's earthly curse is a powerful prayer that must be led by God. Jesus Christ himself cursed men and cities, although he was the savior of the world.

The mission of Jesus Christ was and still is to save; his name means "chosen savior". He saves from his wrath whoever accepts him as his personal savior[50], but only those. He pursues every man and every woman of his love to save him from hell. And he explains to us that it is better to enter one-armed into the kingdom of God than to be thrown healthy into Gehenna[51], the lake of fire, hell[52].

The mission of Jesus Christ was and still is to destroy the works of the devil.

He gives Christians very powerful defensive and offensive spiritual weapons, to bring to the obedience of Christ every thought, to break down every stronghold that opposes the revelation of the truth of the gospel of Christ.

Of course, our weapons are not natural weapons, guns, missiles or machetes. Indeed, it is written in the Bible, that we do not have to fight against the natural powers[53] with natural weapons but against supernatural powers that manifest in the natural world with supernatural weapons.

  52. They are all synonyms. Not to be confused with what the Catholic institution calls hell, which in the Bible is called Hades, or Adès (Greek version), Cheol (Hebrew version). This place is the place where the souls of men and women declared unjust, impious by God go, awaiting the final judgment. For this judgment, the last they will rise with an immortal body, to be judged according to their good or bad works that they will have done. Their judgment will be a just and irremediable condemnation because they will not have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal saviour. They will then be thrown into the lake of eternal fire. Apocalypse 20:15. 15 And if anyone was not found having been written in the Book of Life, he was cast into the Lake of Fire.

  53. Ephesians 6:12. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world's rulers, of the darkness of this age, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
